Fair Elections Center is a non-partisan organization dedicated to defending, expanding, and facilitating voting rights. We use advocacy, litigation, organizing, education, and technology to protect and expand the right to vote, understanding the particular impact on disenfranchised, underrepresented, and marginalized communities. Fair Elections Center’s Voting Right Project (VRP) litigates cutting-edge voting rights cases in federal and state courts around the country. VRP also engages in a wide variety of legislative and administrative advocacy efforts. The legal team also provides election law expertise to state-based civic engagement coalitions and community organizations on election law issues as they plan their programs, encounter problems, and engage election officials.
Fair Elections Center is seeking current law students with strong academic credentials and a demonstrated commitment to civil rights and/or voting rights for a Summer 2027 Legal Internship with the Voting Rights Project. The Legal Intern will support the legal team’s efforts to identify and respond to legal and administrative obstacles to voter participation. This internship provides meaningful exposure to election law and cutting-edge voting rights litigation while offering the opportunity to take on significant responsibility as part of the Voting Rights Project. The Legal Intern will work collaboratively with and under the supervision of attorneys on the Voting Rights Project team.
The Summer 2027 Legal Internship is a full-time, remote internship requiring approximately 45 days of work over a 50-business-day period. Interns are required to secure school funding through their institution or other external funding to participate in the internship. Fair Elections Center will assist with completing any necessary paperwork related to external funding.
