Wilmington College students were able to register to vote in a process as simple as using a laptop within 30 feet of scanning their lunch and dinner IDs. Student members of the Campus Vote Project have been in place all week to register students in time for the upcoming May primary in Ohio.
The College’s ongoing effort in civic engagement has resulted in WC being again selected as a “voter-friendly campus” by Higher Education Student Affairs Administrators and the Campus Voting Project of the Fair Election Center. Wilmington College is one of 258 colleges and universities in 38 states to have earned this designation.
This year’s campaign was led by Logan Florea and Haley Fulton.
The Voter Friendly Campus program is designed to help institutions address the myriad challenges that prevent students from participating in the political process and foster a culture of democratic engagement on their campuses, including years without a national election. This designation recognizes college and university campuses that have committed to voter registration, education, and participation as part of their institutional mission.
