Fair Elections Center President and CEO Robert Brandon has released the following statement:
A week ago, many Americans woke up to the results of the 2024 elections. Many of us participated in the most important right we have in our democracy. But millions of Americans did not participate in the election process. For some it was by choice, for others it was due to barriers to participation.
Fair Elections Center focuses every year to support every vote, because we know that when more voters participate in the process, the results are a more equitable representation of voices and that is better for our country.
We are proud of the hard work our staff, hundreds of student fellows, campus administrators and our partners did for the past year to support and protect voters in every part of the country.
As we enter our 20th year, our organization will focus on pushing back against efforts to undermine access to the ballot with advocacy, education and litigation. We will double down on our efforts to promote pro-voter policies and use the courts to protect voters. And we will continue to support the crucial work of our election officials who continue to show a great commitment to ensuring that our elections are fair and secure.
We have a lot of work ahead, but there is no better time to invest in our country’s democracy.
Our fight for a more perfect union neither begins nor ends in one election. Today, we’re going to rest and regroup but tomorrow we will continue the fight for the future we hope becomes the present.
